Wings to the Past are excited about the 2024 season, building on their huge success in 2023 t2 bursaries were available in 2024.

Now in its 2nd year, the bursary offers serving personnel places on the Bishop Grosseteste archaeological summer school. With places for up to 8 Service personnel, Service leavers up to 1 year after exit and their immediate dependents (over 16), this amazing opportunity allows the successful applicants to spend 2 weeks embedded on a real dig, learning from professional archaeologists and uncovering an amazing site just on the edge of Lincoln.  Last year a father and daughter attended, and they told Wings to the Past that the best part of the 2 weeks “was being able to spend time together and grow”.

The site is multi-period mainly focusing on the medieval period and last year generated some amazing evidence of occupation and some fascinating finds. This year’s dig promises to be just as exciting.  Wings to the Past is so grateful to Dr Derwin Gregory and Bishop Grosseteste University for this amazing opportunity.
